Join us on Friday, September 6th for our next free wine tasting with Jumbo Time Wines. Jumbo Time Wines is a Los Angeles-based natural wine company with a focus on sustainable practices and minimal intervention in the cellar and we couldn’t be more excited to welcome them to The Whale GVL. We’ll be featuring their famous “Lil’ Jumbos” for the night at a special price. These splits are perfect to crush by yourself or share with a friend. Drew from Proof Wine & Spirits will be in the house from 6 PM until 8 PM so make sure you swing by!
About Jumbo Time Wines
Jumbo Time Wines is a Los Angeles + Sonoma-based natural winery, started in 2020. We work organically farmed (dry farmed & biodynamic when possible) fruit & practice minimal intervention in the cellar. It’s our belief that natural wine is about farming, not necessarily a certain taste profile. Stylistically you can make the fun orange + chilled red wines along with the elegant Pinot Noirs & big bold Syrah’s that share the same farming & wine making ethos. We are proud to work alongside farmers to make wines that are the result of curiosity and excitement surrounding what the glorious state of California has to offer. Since the beginning, our approach to winemaking went as follows: enter harvest with an eye on the varietals we love and a loose idea of the types of wine we want to end up bottling. We then proceed with different methods of experimentation — all the while, working alongside (and at the mercy of) Mother Nature. We have an acute sense of the style of wine we want to make so when it comes time to finalize the cuvées, we start by blending various barrels of the juice we’ve produced. Working with individual fermentations of each grape, we can then determine what combination makes sense in the glass together. The result is a lineup of wines that are all interconnected, playing off the decisions made during harvest, as well as in the cellar during blending. With a few years under our belt, we are starting to really hone in on what we do best. While experimentation will always be at the heart of what we do, we are more focused on refining wines from vintage to vintage. The goal is to always introduce something new while making wines you’ve grown to love and expect from us even better. 🙂 We hope you have as much fun drinking our wines as we did making them!
