Nonprofit of The Month :: Literacy Together

12:00 PM - 10:00 PM | West Asheville, NC

Monday, January 1, 2024

During the month of January, we will feature a fantastic local nonprofit called Literacy Together. They are dedicated to teaching English to immigrants, adult literacy to folks working on a GED, and youth literacy to kids who are struggling with reading.

Literacy Together has a determined group of students waiting for volunteer tutors so they can move forward on their goals for a better future. The English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Program wait list has over 100 people, most of whom are from Latin America.

Volunteer tutors can teach in person or online, and they welcome tutors from all over the country. Tutors don’t need to speak Spanish or the student’s language. Learn more.  The most significant need right now is with the ESOL Program.

We’ll be raising money for their work all month long. Come out and show your support any day of the week or attend special events, Drunk Spelling Bee and The Whale Book Swap.
