J. Wakefield Tap Takeover

5:00 PM - 11:00 PM | West Asheville, NC

Thursday, October 5, 2023

This week’s featured brewery is the one and only J Wakefield. They make some really killer beer and we’re stoked to pour Purple Haterade, Miami Madness, Ides of Maerzen, Drink Champs, and Andiamo. Keep scrolling to learn more about the beers!

About J. Wakefield

J. Wakefield Brewing is an independently-owned craft brewery and taproom located in the heart of Miami’s Wynwood Arts District.

They make quality beers that don’t always fit the norm. From renowned sours to instant classics like El Jefe, a Coconut infused Hefeweizen, and Hops 4 Teacher IPA, they craft traditional styles while utilizing local and occasionally unexpected ingredients, as well as, barrel aging techniques to give these styles a unique twist and depth of character.

Their production facility is approximately 3,800 square feet and features a custom 15-barrel brew house with a dedicated second boil kettle for our sour program. This secondary boil kettle allows them to maintain regular production of our classic beers which feeds nearly 5,000 BBLs of capacity.

About the Beers:

Haterade – Purple: Berliner Weisse – Never meant to cause you any sorrow, or any pain. Only want to see you drinking Purple Haterade. With the nose of a grape blow pop, it’s time we all reach for something new including you. You can’t seem to make up your mind, let me guide you to this Purple Haterade

Miami Madness: Fruited Berliner Weisse – Their world-famous Florida Weisse brewed with Guava, Mango, and Passionfruit. It has been rated #1 Best Berliner and #2 Best Berliner on BeerAdvocate.com & RateBeer.com.

Ides of Marzen: Marzen – Foeder-aged marzen style lager. Just like Gam-Gam used to enjoy. You’re going to wish it was winter so you could freeze it into ice blocks and skate on it, then melt it in the springtime and drink it!

Drink Champs: Hazy IPA – A collab with their next-door, all things hip hop and libations-related podcast, Drink Champs with N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN. They brewed up this hazy IPA with a stupid amount of pineapple, then hopped it with Sultana, Hallertau Blanc, and El Dorado.

Andiamo!: Italian Pilsner – Let’s Go! Less floral and slightly more earthy hop bitterness than its German counterpart, this crisp Italian-style Pilsner has become a popular lager style for those who like a little more “Andiamo” in their glass.

We’ll have DJ Camaro out on the patio from 6-9 and the event will raise funds for our nonprofit of the week, Hola Carolina.
